• Les écritures qu’Eko a grave sur son “bâton de Jésus” n’apparaissent pas clairement, mais il y a plusieurs hypothèses : Psaume 14, verset 1 : "The fool says in his heart, ’There is no God.’ They are corrupt, their deeds are vile ; there is no one who does good." Verset 4 : "Will evildoers never learn... ?", etc.

• Le titre de l’épisode fait allusion au 23ème psaume trouvé dans l’Ancien Testament :

"The Lord is my Shepherd ; I shall not want... Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, ...I will fear no evil : For thou art with me ; ...Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me."
